Hi friend,

Like many other white-led groups, we have embarked on a forever journey to dismantle white supremacy in our organization and the environmental movement. Every conversation we have about equity and justice and every institutional change we make to ensure diversity and inclusion has helped us to begin unlearning our habits and undoing the structures that have contributed to privileges for white people at the expense of people of color. It’s a humbling and ongoing process.

That’s why we plan to use our power and privilege this February to amplify organizations led by and that serve communities of color and to learn from them.

Our organization is making this month a priority because Black communities and other communities of color historically have been marginalized by redlining and other racist tactics that have led to Black Americans being more likely than whites to be impacted by pollution. Black, Brown and low-income communities are also often hit first and worse by the impacts of climate change.

Below is a list of the events we plan on attending. We invite our members and supporters to recognize Black History Month as well by attending an event below or another one in your community.

Are there events we’ve missed? Please let us know about a Black History Month event in your community by replying to this email, and we’ll add it to our list [[link removed]] and post about it on our social media accounts to help get the word out.
