When we watched insurrectionists attack the Capitol on January 6th, we hoped it would never happen again.

But this weekend, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump spurred on the threat of more violence with a promise that, if re-elected, he would PARDON the insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol and our democracy.

It’s obvious what these promised pardons are meant to do: to encourage another insurrection. Because without consequences, autocrats and far-right radicals like Nicole Malliotakis will keep trying to destroy our democracy with threats and acts of violence.
