I first encountered Cori Bush in my hometown of Ferguson in the midst of tear gas in my own backyard. The scene was like a war zone full of brave civilians asking elected officials to do what was right, politically and morally. Seeing Cori’s courage in the wake of danger really inspired me. I didn’t know Cori’s name at the time; however, the military attribute “Selfless Service” came to mind.
Later, I researched Cori. I applauded her stances on humanity and found her agenda was that of my own. Cori supports a living wage for all Americans; equal pay for women and minorities; Medicare for All; reducing prescription drug costs; fully funding public education; improving the quality of public schools; fair policing and criminal justice reform; eliminating the school to prison pipeline; tax relief for blue collar workers and small businesses; eliminating loopholes for corporate tax breaks; reversing the damage from Citizens United; grassroots funding for political campaigns; stabilizing Social Security for future generations; mental health reform to reduce gun violence; expanding the VA’s mental health services; and, and supporting veterans’ transition back into the civilian workforce.
As a U.S. Army Veteran, I am grateful for Cori Bush and her dedication to make all our lives better. I thank her for her activism, honesty, courage, and willingness to speak truth to power. I’m asking you to stand with me on this Veteran’s Day and help elect this Selfless Leader by supporting her campaign today.
Sincerely,
Harold Anthony Sanders
