Dear friend,
35 years of an unjust and racially discriminatory sentencing scheme is enough. It is time to eliminate the federal crack-powder disparity — and we need your help!

In 1986, Congress created a 100:1 disparity between prison sentences for people convicted of crimes involving powder cocaine and crack cocaine, even though they are two forms of the same drug. The law devastated families, especially Black families, whose loved ones were more likely to be charged for crack offenses. The disparity was reduced from 100:1 to 18:1 in 2010. Now it's time to finish the job.
The EQUAL Act will finally make these punishments equal. Fortunately, the U.S. House passed the EQUAL Act last September by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 361-66. But the Senate has failed to act, and time is running out.
We need the four leaders in Congress — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Republican House Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell — to make sure this bill gets to President Biden NOW.
You can help make that happen by tweeting to Congressional leadership in support of the EQUAL Act: https://secure.everyaction.com/tYDb238o8UmuKpwe3fxLVg2
Thanks,
Kevin Ring
