![]() Message from NARAL President Mini Timmaraju Just last week, Justice Stephen Breyer announced that he’ll be retiring from the U.S. Supreme Court at the end of this term. With abortion rights and access under attack like never before, we need to ensure his replacement is committed to upholding the constitutional right to abortion.
We are delighted by President Biden’s promise that his nominee will be the first Black woman nominated to the Supreme Court. We all look forward to celebrating that historic nomination. With help from our members, we will do everything necessary to defend her from extremist, right-wing attacks.
But this vacancy doesn’t change the trajectory of the Supreme Court’s looming decision about the future of Roe v. Wade—and the threat it poses to reproductive freedom for every body.
With everything at stake, we’re going all in—to protect the right to abortion by demanding the Senate pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, to fight to confirm a justice committed to reproductive freedom, and to elect and protect champions in this year’s midterm elections who will safeguard our fundamental rights.
We were made for moments like these, and I am proud to be with you in this fight. Take Action on WHPA
With abortion rights and access on the line like never before, the Senate must pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), a bill that would protect the right to abortion throughout the country—even if Roe is overturned.
The Senate will soon vote on this critical legislation—and your senators need to hear from you. Call 844-688-0258 and tell your senators to pass WHPA.
SCOTUS Confirmation Fight With the news that Justice Stephen Breyer is stepping down at the end of the Supreme Court’s current term, NARAL Pro-Choice America is mobilizing to ensure he is succeeded by a justice who shares a commitment to upholding the constitutional right to abortion. And we look forward to the historic moment when President Biden nominates a Black woman to the Supreme Court for the first time ever.
So, here we go: A Supreme Court fight in the middle of a midterm election year. It’s the type of fight that NARAL was built for and that NARAL members like you are going to help win.
NARAL Endorsements NARAL is proud to endorse Stacey Abrams for governor of Georgia. She is working to unseat the state’s anti-choice governor, Brian Kemp, and become the first Black person and first woman ever elected governor in the state’s history.
Here are NARAL’s other recent endorsements:
Dana Nessel for Michigan Attorney General Josh Kaul for Wisconsin Attorney General Phil Weiser for Colorado Attorney General
Combatting Disinformation
Earlier this month, anti-choice activists hosted the annual March for Life. This year’s theme exemplified the movement’s longstanding strategy of co-opting social justice rhetoric to make its extreme and unpopular agenda appear more palatable. Read the NARAL Research Team’s latest memo on the movement’s false “feminist” branding and disinformation and learn how to debunk it. ![]() MARK YOUR CALENDAR Upcoming Events TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1 @ 7:00 PM PT

Volunteer with NARAL Pro-Choice America to get out the vote for Jessica Cisneros, a true champion for reproductive freedom, before Texas’ 28th Congressional District’s primary election on March 1.
Cisneros is running against the only anti-choice Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Henry Cuellar, who voted against the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA). With the future of Roe in the hands of the anti-choice supermajority on the Supreme Court, it’s critical we continue to do whatever we can to elect champions for reproductive freedom—like Jessica Cisneros—to protect our fundamental freedoms. THE STATE OF REPRO FREEDOM In the States ![]() Arizona The 2022 Arizona legislative session is underway. Unfortunately, the anti-choice majority in the state legislature has already introduced two abortion bans, including HB 2483, a law modeled after Texas’ vigilante-enforced ban on abortion. NARAL Arizona members will be phone banking every Wednesday to fight back against these bans. ![]() California Following the recommendations of the California Future of Abortion Council, Gov. Newsom, Attorney General Bonta, and many legislators are taking steps to expand abortion access so that California is prepared to meet this critical moment and remain a Reproductive Freedom State. ![]() Georgia Last week, anti-choice lawmakers in Georgia introduced a bill (SB 351) with multiple restrictions to push abortion access out of reach in the state. We’re doubling down and will be on the frontlines continuing to fight for our fundamental freedoms. Will you join the fight for reproductive freedom in Georgia in 2022? ![]() Nevada On Jan 24, NARAL Nevada participated in a roundtable discussion held by Rep. Susie Lee on abortion access in Nevada. You can read more about our work in Nevada in our Las Vegas Sun op-ed. ![]() SHOW YOUR SUPPORT Merch for the Movement The vast majority of Americans support reproductive freedom. Let’s make sure everyone knows!
