I'm forwarding an important request from Deborah, just in case you missed her invite to become an ACLU Guardian of Liberty – a monthly donor – before today ends.

As a dedicated ACLU member, you've played a critical role in helping the ACLU remain a steady force for justice. But, as Deborah says in her email below, the work of defending our democracy and protecting our civil liberties never ends – and especially in 2022, we must make sure we are well equipped for the urgent fights ahead.

We have to be ready for an explosion of anti-abortion legislation, no matter what the Supreme Court decides in the challenge to Roe v. Wade – or who may be nominated as the Court's next justice later on. We need to be ready to stop any and all racially-motivated attacks on our right to vote and our democracy. And we must be prepared for a wave of hostile and dangerous legislation emerging in the states.

ACLU Supporter, I know we can take on these challenges – and win. We've done it before. But it's truly the ongoing, consistent support from our Guardians of Liberty that fuels such crucial fights.

By making your monthly pledge before January ends, you'll be ensuring that our most critical efforts are fueled every single month this year, including:

• Protecting and expanding the right to vote against blatant voter suppression efforts – especially in the lead up to the midterm elections this November
• Defending access to abortion with every tool in our arsenal as the nation faces the greatest threat to Roe v. Wade in generations at the Supreme Court
• Continuing the imperative and long-overdue work to transform our country's history of systemic racism into a future of systemic equality
• Remaining vigilant defenders of our first amendment rights to free speech, protest, and freedom of the press at a time when our democracy is at a crisis point

It's critical that you respond before the end of month deadline – with Roe v. Wade on the line, with our democracy under constant threat, and with millions of people counting on us, the ACLU needs to be at our full-fighting power throughout 2022 to pursue this work with the urgency it demands.
