Friend,
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people make the difficult choice to leave their homes and undertake the treacherous journey north through Mexico in search of safety—often to escape violent or even deadly circumstances. But when they arrive at the southern US border, US policies leave them stranded in dangerous conditions.
Despite pledging to create a safe and humane migration policy, the Biden administration has carried out close to one million expulsions in the year since taking office. These expulsions were sanctioned under Title 42 and the newly-reinstated Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP)—also known as the “Remain in Mexico” policy. Under the banner of these harmful policies, thousands of vulnerable people get turned away at the US border every day without due process.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is supporting migrants in the Mexican city of Reynosa where more than 5,000 are stranded as a result of various US immigration policies.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
