Friends,
Growing up in a family with a record of military service brought the meaning and importance of Veterans Day close to home for me at an early age. Each year we celebrate today by honoring every American who served and sacrificed to protect our country and our freedom.
During WWII both of my grandfathers served our country as pilots and my grandmother served in the Coast Guard. When they returned home, they knew our community and our country had their backs. Unfortunately too many of our veterans returning home don’t feel that same commitment from our government.
That’s why in Congress, I’m focused on ensuring our veterans have access to benefits and high quality care. I’ve learned quickly that there are many ways the bureaucracy in Washington is letting our veterans down, and I will not rest until their needs are met. Please, make time to thank a veteran in your life today -- and if you are a veteran reading this now, thank you for everything you have done for our country and thank you for putting your trust in me to be your advocate in Washington.
Happy Veterans Day,
Chris
