For the first time since the Civil War, one major party is actively working to undermine our democratic process. And I'm not just talking about January 6th and the Trump insurrectionists. I’m talking about the 19 GOP-controlled states that are enacting laws to make it harder to cast votes and allowing partisans to interfere with the vote count. And about what we just saw one week ago when EVERY SINGLE Republican Senator voted to use the current filibuster rule to prevent a majority vote on the Freedom to Vote and John Lewis Voting Rights bills.

And something else is different — the enormous influence of secret money in our elections. America's billionaires are altogether worth over $5 trillion today. And under our current campaign finance laws, any one of them can give UNLIMITED secret money to shadowy groups trying to defeat elected officials they disagree with.
