Team,

Thinking about Veterans Day, I remember one of my favorite memories, going to Sea World with my grandfather, grandmother, mom, dad, and my young daughters.

Before the show began, they asked members of the audience who had served in our military to stand and be recognized. Standing shoulder to shoulder with my dad and grandfather, three generations linked together by service — I felt so proud to be standing with them.

But then I looked around and another feeling replaced that because the other faces standing around us were almost all men.

Only 1% of Americans serve in our all-volunteer military, and only 20% of those who serve are women. As the number of women serving continues to rise, I'm working to make sure the Armed Services are appropriately supportive.

I'm working to ensure that all servicewomen and female veterans are heard and their needs are seen. I'm working to ensure that we're taking care of those who have and those who do serve.

I'm advocating for women in service because I stand shoulder to shoulder with them every day, and I know we must continue to.

This is a long battle, but it's one I'm continuing to fight. Say you're with me by adding your name to mine. [[link removed]]

We've got work to do,

Chrissy Houlahan
