John — my first end-of-month deadline of the year is 24 hours away and I cannot express how important it is that we hit our goal so we’re prepared for the months ahead.
The GOP is still carrying out their voter disenfranchisement crusade. Fighting to pass suppression and subversion bills in nearly every state across our nation. They’re gerrymandering districts to dilute the voice of the American people. And they’re raising millions of dollars from corporations and special interest groups to boost Republican campaigns, run attack ads, and spread their dangerous rhetoric and misinformation.
If we can keep our slim House Majority and add one or two Senate seats, we’ll have the votes to bypass the filibuster and protect voting rights, pass House legislation to raise the minimum wage, protect our climate, enshrine Roe v. Wade as law, pass immigration reform, and more. That’s what the American people voted for, and it’s what we need to deliver over the next three years.
But John, first we need to win the midterms. None of this is possible if Republicans take back either chamber of Congress.
If we lose the House or the Senate, Republicans will grind everything in Congress to a halt and create years of partisan gridlock heading into the 2024 election. And it’s not enough to maintain our current majority. We need to strengthen our majorities in the Senate or we risk setting our country back decades. I’m ready to move forward and pass comprehensive reform that benefits all Americans.
