There’s nothing more important than showing up for our veterans. Because of their sacrifice and selflessness, we’re able to enjoy the freedoms we cherish as Americans.

Everyone agrees on that — Democrats, Republicans and Independents. We also all agree that it’s incumbent on all of us to make sure veterans have the resources they need to succeed after they’ve completed their service to our country. But, somehow, we shamefully have not been able to keep that commitment.

It’s time that we got our Department of Veterans Affairs in order and make sure our veterans have access to jobs, housing and healthcare — including mental healthcare — during and after their service.

This Veterans Day, we honor our veterans. But every day should be an opportunity to honor our veterans by following through on our promises to them and their families. I believe that, and that’s why one of the first pieces of legislation I sponsored was to provide jobs services to veterans.

Providing for our veterans should be a top priority, starting with their healthcare and their ability to find gainful employment. Sign my petition now if you agree.
