It’s Infrastructure Week in Chicago, and great things are happening.

On Monday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot was proud to announce the completion of the Red-Purple Bypass, CTA's first new, permanent track on the 'L' in nearly three decades 🎉

The best part? This is only STEP ONE of the $2.1 billion Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) effort, which will be the most expansive reconstruction project in the history of the 'L', once completed.

By phasing out a century-old rail junction, the Red-Purple Bypass will help reduce overcrowding and delays, so CTA customers can commute with reliability and ease.

Mayor Lightfoot knows the everyday Chicagoans rely on the 'L' to maneuver our great city. Reconstructing track structures on the Red and Purple line between Belmont and Newport/Cornelia.

Making the Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr Red Line stations larger and more accessible.

Installing a new signal system between Howard and Belmont to help trains navigate congestion.

With more than 30% of all rail riders using the Red Line, it's CTA's busiest line. That's why Mayor Lightfoot is proud to be implementing changes that will benefit thousands of CTA customers each year.
