I’m reaching out today on behalf of my friends at Defend the Senate. They are hard at work defending our vulnerable incumbent Senators up for re-election this year and trying to flip a few Republican held seats in order to expand our majority.

And their mission just got a LOT more important. Let me explain.

This month, Supreme Court Justice Breyer announced that he was retiring from the Court, creating a liberal vacancy on the conservative bench.

Since Mitch McConnell nuked the filibuster to ram through Trump’s Supreme Court nominees, that means we only need 50 Democratic Senators to vote together to confirm President Biden’s nominee.

So we have an opportunity we cannot waste to confirm a justice to the Supreme Court who will be a champion for voting rights, reproductive rights, health care access, and so much more.

But here’s the thing, it’s not just enough to confirm this justice. We must also remain focused on our mission to defend and expand our Senate majority. If we lose our slim 50 seat majority in the Senate Mitch McConnell will block us from confirming any more judges.

So that’s why I’m reaching out today. I know it’s a lot to ask, but if you have anything you can spare I know my friends at Defend the Senate would appreciate any help you can give before the deadline.
