Friend,
Today, I wanted to just take a moment to say thank you to those who have sacrificed so much for our country. There are 39,000 veterans in Manhattan, 54,000 in Brooklyn, and 59,000 in Queens. And while our city has certainly gotten better about ensuring that these men and women are cared for, we still have a long way to go.
We’ve drastically reduced the number of homeless veterans on the streets, but there are still hundreds without shelter. From providing housing opportunities to making sure that mental health care is available, we can and should be doing more — both here in NYC and at the federal level.
This Veterans Day, be sure to reach out to those in your life who have served our country and tell them thank you, but also set aside some time this week to reach out to your representatives to let them know that these men and women need our support.
Best,
