On January 26, President Biden invited numerous CEOs of large corporations to the White House to talk about the Build Back Better Act and all that it offers to fight climate change, expand health care, provide childcare, and in general, jumpstart our economy.
At the meeting, General Motors CEO Mary Barra (among others) told President Biden she looked forward to working with Biden and Congress on these issues. Executives from Ford, Microsoft, Salesforce, and others were also in attendance and made similar comments.
But Barra is also chair of the Business Roundtable, a powerful group of corporate lobbyists that have spent millions in the past few months to water down and defeat the Build Back Better Act in Congress. The organization aired a television advertisement saying the Build Back Better Act would "hold America back," and has targeted Facebook ads to drum up opposition.
Sign the petition to business CEOs: Actions speak louder than words. Stop your dishonest campaign to kill the Build Back Better Act.

The Build Back Better Act may be our last best hope to fight climate change, would cut child poverty, expand health care access, provide funds for affordable housing, offer paid family leave, and help women re-enter the workforce with expanded child care. And we can pay for all this by making the very rich and big corporations pay their fair share in taxes.
Corporations cannot have it both ways. They cannot have executives put on a friendly face at the White House in support of popular legislation and then spend millions to have their lobbyists and consultants do the dirty work in an attempt to kill the bill. Their actions are speaking louder than words ever could.

Our message to the Business Roundtable:
I am outraged that corporations are spending millions to defeat the Build Back Better Act, all while their executives say nice things about this popular legislation. Actions speak louder than words, and we are calling on you to drop your opposition to this much-needed bill.
