Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

This week, I was back home in Arizona! It was an honor to speak to constituents in Phoenix this week and discuss my opposition to vaccine mandates and the Democrats’ reckless spending. I always love getting a chance to meet and talk with constituents from across our district.

I also had a wonderful time meeting with the Liberty Ladies, a group of women located in Sun City, Sun City West, and Sun City Grand. We discussed the current state of our nation and how I'm fighting to uphold our constitutional freedoms!

I had a great time meeting with pastors from across our community and other local leaders at Surprise Mayor Skip Hall’s Mayor’s breakfast!

Congratulations to United Airlines and their new pilot training program, the United Aviate Academy! It's great to see this one-of-a-kind academy here in Goodyear, AZ.

Lesko Joins Effort to Designate January 23-29, 2022 as National School Choice Week

Image

I joined Congressman John Moolenaar’s (R-MI-04) resolution to designate January 23-29, 2022, as National School Choice Week. I firmly believe parents should have options for their children’s education. National School Choice Week has partnered with hundreds of schools and organizations in Arizona to raise awareness for K-12 education options for Arizonan families!

Lesko Pushes Back Against Treasury Secretary Yellen’s Threat to Take Back Millions from Arizona’s Education Fund

Image

I joined Congressman David Schweikert (R-AZ-06) in a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to push back against the Biden Administration’s threat to take back federal funding meant for Arizonan children and schools. It is up to Arizonans to decide what is best for our children!

GET THE FACTS: Biden Sets Yet Another Record at Our Southern Border

The number of apprehensions at our southern border topped 2 MILLION in 2021. There were 178,840 arrests in December, a 142% increase from the previous year, making it the worst December on record. Hundreds of thousands more passed through our southern border without being detected. Many of those who are caught are being released back into our communities or transported around to different cities on secret flights and buses.

President Biden and the Democrats are proving with their inaction that they do not care about the humanitarian, national security, and public health threats created by our open southern border.

Americans need an administration that enforces our immigration laws. While the Biden Administration continues to ignore this crisis, it’s only getting worse.

Casework Highlight

A constituent reached out to our office after he booked and then cancelled a flight on his credit card. The airline issued his bank account a credit for the cancelled flight, but the account they issued the credit to had been closed by the constituent. As a result, the constituent called his financial institution who assured him they would mail him a physical check. The constituent filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) after waiting three months to receive his payment. We reached out to CFPB and they were able to see that the payment had not yet been issued. As a result, they sent the check to the constituent's updated mailing address.

Encouraging Story

I am happy to share this story about the Glendale Police Department throwing a belated birthday party for an eight-year-old boy named Jaden. In place of a large birthday party, Jaden asked his family and friends to bring him gifts to donate to others who are less fortunate. Around 40 families benefited from Jaden's contribution. When the Glendale Police Department discovered Jaden's selfless act, they decided to throw him a birthday party and gift him a Nintendo Switch. It is so great to see how people are helping one another in our local communities!
