Donations of just a few dollars at a time makes sure that we can pay our bills and staff, and develop tools so you can take immediate and effective action. In fact, nearly half of our revenue comes from Daily Kos readers and activists donating just a few bucks at a time. But what's more, it makes us accountable to you—not to a billionaire backer, shareholders, or corporate sponsors.

More importantly, We know that in order to keep operating, we know we have to fight and deliver for what you believe in. Otherwise, you won't donate to us!

It is essential that independent, progressive media continues providing you news you can do something about–and do so in a way that keeps us accountable to our community of grassroots donors. Jack, Daily Kos ended 2021 at 102.06 percent of its annual fundraising goal. That's great news—and also a little worrying, to be honest. Halfway through the year, we were 10 percent ahead of where we thought we'd be, but we came up short month after month in the final months of the year, majorly shrinking the margin we had to work with.

We expected a downturn in the second half of the year, as the threat Donald Trump and his Republican sycophants in Congress posed to the country faded in some people's memories. But this is an election year, and right now we're on track to miss our first monthly goal of 2022.

Daily Kos delivers a lot of bang for your buck. We have a small team of writers and activists working hard to deliver news you can do something about. More than 75 million people came to Daily Kos in 2020, and we recruited 111,642 of them to volunteer for Democratic candidates in that election. We can beat those numbers this year and help Democrats expand their razor thin majorities with your help.
