California’s Redistricting Process. As mandated by the U.S. Constitution, every 10 years the U.S. conducts a census to count every resident in the United States. These census results are then used to draw new congressional and other district lines and each state has its own methodology for redistricting. California voters created an independent Citizens Redistricting Commission to draw the lines instead of the California Legislature. The Commission produced new maps for 52 Congressional districts, 40 Senatorial districts, 80 Assembly districts and 4 Board of Equalization districts maps.
These maps will govern the 2022 June primary and the November general elections.
Anna’s New ‘Sweet 16’ District. The District continues to include communities from Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties but no longer (sadly) includes communities from Santa Cruz County or Redwood City. The new district adds the coastside cities of Half Moon Bay and Pacifica and more portions of San Jose.
Anna is looking forward to campaigning and getting to know the new voters in her District, as well as the voters in the communities that continue to be a part of CA-16. Would you please consider chipping in to help with this important outreach?
