Happy Veterans Day!
Today, we focus on the New York City 100th Annual Veterans Day Parade, and its Grand
Marshal President Donald J. Trump. While the President is not exactly an NYC crowd
favorite, he has a long history with that particular parade. Back in 1995, the parade
organizers had $1.21 in the bank after being shut out by every conceivable donor,
including defense contractors. Then-NYC builder Donald Trump stepped up with about
$350,000 and some influence with other donors. The organizers in turn trimmed their
budget by a hefty margin, and the parade took place. All involved agreed that Donald
Trump saved the parade. Earlier that year, Trump had donated $1 million to help
fund NYC's Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza. While a presidential candidate in 2016,
Trump also donated $1 million to the Marine Corps Law-Enforcement Foundation. AND,
unlike his predecessor in office, he knows the proper way to pronounce "Marine Corps"!!
Be sure to take some time today to reflect on the fulsome nation that has been handed
to us by our veterans, both living and passed. Please, go out of your way to thank
as many veterans as you can for the gifts bestowed upon us by the military of our
nation, even including the right to protest against that very military when we disagree
with our government or sense wrongdoing. THAT is the very basis of American greatness
-- NOT censorship, nor groupthink! God Bless America, and God Bless our Veterans!
