Africa & Europe
Pray for Romania as a fifth wave of COVID is hitting. Pray for good health and protection for the Romanian team, and pray for all who are experiencing hardship during this new wave of COVID. Pray that upcoming trainings will be able to take place as government partners are engaged and eager to receive training.
Latin America
Pray for the development of survivor leaders in Guatemala. The team has been working to create programs and plans for empowering and engaging survivor leaders, and the challenges the team faces with developing such programs are significant due to COVID and the current political climate. The team is asking for the Lord’s clear and strong guidance for these high-potential initiatives.
South Asia
Please pray for two young boys who were rescued this week after escaping from bonded labor at a duck farm. The boys had been enduring increasing violence and managed to run away. People in the village then brought them to local authorities, who took care of the boys and confronted the farm owner. Praise God for the compassion and proactivity of this community, and pray for follow up in this case: that the owner would be arrested and that the boys can get the short-term and long-term aftercare they need. Pray also for IJM’s partner NGOs who are helping in this case.
Southeast Asia
Praise God that a Swedish perpetrator involved in the online sexual exploitation of children was found guilty! With the evidence collected and a Videotaped In-Depth Interview with the survivor, our IJM Philippines team successfully convinced the Swedish court to find the accused guilty and order the perpetrator to compensate the victim approximately $26,340. As the perpetrator is likely to appeal, please pray that the conviction is upheld.
