New Year, New Election, New Challenges.

As Team Hayes launches into our Congresswoman’s third re-election campaign, we wanted to keep you updated on what we’re keeping an eye on at the very beginning of this election year.

First, Connecticut is still finalizing its new Congressional maps. The State Supreme Court just heard arguments on the Special Master’s proposed maps, and we’ll hear in the next few weeks about where exactly the lines of the 5th District will fall. So we have to be ready to adapt and adjust depending on the final outcome.

Second, with the re-election campaign getting underway, we know nasty mailers, opposition advertising, and mistruths meant to fuel partisan divides are headed our way. We have seen it all and we expect this year to be the worst yet. We will defend against the divisive attacks and focus on Jahana’s work for the next 9 months.

Jahana’s re-election race is set to be one of the closest in the nation – and with Democrats only holding on to the House Majority by a few seats, the outcome in a toss-up district like CT-05 could determine who will be in control of Congress for the second half of President Biden’s first term.

All eyes are on the short list of “frontline” districts that will determine whether or not Democrats hold the House majority. Jahana’s leadership is the kind we need more of in DC, but we’re already seeing that shady dark money and national Republican groups are ready to spend millions to flip this seat.

The pundits desperately want to paint Jahana as vulnerable early, so let’s perform early and send them looking elsewhere for a race!
