John,
Homemade, untraceable “ghost guns” pose one of the greatest threats to our public safety. Throughout the pandemic, these fully functioning firearms have proliferated across the United States, causing senseless bloodshed in our communities and schools. In fact, just last week, a Maryland high school student used a ghost gun to critically shoot and injure a fellow classmate.
And, tragically, the bloodshed does not end there. Ghost guns are quickly becoming an ideal weapon of choice for prohibited gun purchasers because they require NO Brady Background Check. They’re easier to assemble than an IKEA dresser, built with kits and parts easily purchased online.
But right now, at Brady, we’re taking a stand against untraceable ghost guns to save lives.
Brady Legal recently filed the nation’s first civil lawsuit against the ghost gun industry, representing the victims and survivors of a horrific shooting rampage involving a homemade AR-15-style rifle. We also recently helped pass FOUR landmark local ordinances to ban ghost guns — the first local bans of their kind in the country. And federally, in Congress, we’re calling on the ATF to sensibly regulate ghost guns and the parts to build them.
Thank you for your support, Team Brady
Urge Congress: Support Ethan’s Law to Prevent Family Fire! Monday marks four years since 15-year-old Ethan Song was killed after unintentionally shooting himself with a gun that had been left unsecured in a cardboard box at a friend’s home. These tragedies are called family fire, or a shooting involving an improperly stored or misused gun in the home that results in death or injury. Tragically, Ethan is not alone: Each day in America, eight children and teens are killed or injured by family fire.
This law, championed by Ethan’s parents, would be the first federal law to mandate safe gun storage requirements to keep our homes and children safe. Please, help us honor Ethan’s life with action by making your voice heard today.

We thank Assembly Member Laura Friedman for introducing this life-saving bill and prioritizing safe gun storage. Now, as this vital legislation heads to the California Senate, here are two ways you can get involved with Brady California. Episode 169: White Women, White Nationalism, and Gun Violence
What role do white women play in white nationalist groups, like the KKK? And what prompts them to join hate groups, perpetuate hateful rhetoric, and commit violence? We talk with Seyward Darby, author of “Sisters in Hate: American Women on the Front Lines of White Nationalism,” about these issues and what we all can do to combat hate-based violence in our communities.
