I have yet to meet a single American who believes the problem with our politics is there is not enough money in it.

That’s why it’s so important to me that I run a grassroots-driven campaign, and why I don’t take a cent from corporate PACs and federal lobbyists.

There’s a reason why D.C. gets a bad reputation, and why Americans’ trust in politicians is at an all time low. Voters can see what’s going on — elected officials take money from corporate special interests, and that money comes with strings. Then these lobbyists and corporations influence politicians to do their bidding. And their bidding often leads to inaction in the form of tough votes never taken, bills we can’t pass despite urgent calls from constituents, and science-based evidence politicians willfully ignore. It’s frustrating to witness and it’s why I'm rejecting corporate special-interest money in favor of talking to my constituents and focusing on improving the lives of everyday Coloradans.

It’s high time to tackle the influence of money in politics, and I’ve been working in the Senate to do just that. Your trust is worth much more to me than any corporate PAC check.

But that means we have to make up our fundraising in other ways in order to compete with Republicans who gladly accept those corporate PAC checks. Which is why I rely on grassroots supporters like you chipping in $5, $10, or $20 dollars at a time in order to run my campaign the right way.

It takes a lot of small-dollar donations in order to make up the difference, but that’s the beauty of our campaign: a huge group of supporters standing together can produce just as much power as the large corporations or federal lobbyists.
