Hi John,
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is
supposed to be an independent jurist. But how can he do that when
his wife is an outspoken activist for extremist right-wing groups
and causes?
Ginni Thomas has a long history of influence in
ultra-conservative circles. She has been one of the directors of
C.N.P. Action, a dark-money group that connects wealthy donors to
radical right-wing figures. She’s worked at the Heritage
Foundation, a conservative think tank credited with the GOP push
to install ultra-conservative judges. She’s even launched her own
lobbying firm, which states on their website that she is able to
“give access to any door in Washington.”
This is dangerous, and calls into question the
ethics of our Supreme Court decision-making process. Ginni Thomas
is publicly working — and being paid lots of money for it — to
advance conservative causes on issues that her husband is
presiding over on the Supreme Court.
Many people don’t realize the Supreme Court
isn’t bound by a code of ethics like other federal judges are.
That needs to change.
Will you sign our petition demanding higher
ethical standards for the Supreme Court?
