Team MLG Update

Hi, John! The state legislature is in session, and Governor Lujan Grisham is hard at work fighting for New Mexico families. You're one of her top supporters, so our team would like to give you a sneak peek at what she's working on.

State of the State Address

Last week, Gov. Lujan Grisham gave her State of the State address. She discussed the incredible progress we've made over the past three years and announced her priorities for the new year, which include education reform, tax cuts for all New Mexicans, and funding for public safety.

Keeping Kids in School

As schools face extreme staffing shortages due to COVID-19, Gov. Lujan Grisham is doing everything she can to keep students in school. She just launched an initiative that encourages state workers and members of the National Guard to volunteer to become substitute teachers.

Stepping Up to Teach

As the governor launches her new substitute teaching initiative, she's stepping up to the plate herself. This week, the governor completed a day as a substitute teacher at Santa Fe's Salazar Elementary School. After her day in the classroom, Gov. Lujan Grisham noted her excitement at the students' eagerness in reading. After spending a day with New Mexico students, she's ready to continue to do all she can to help students succeed in their education while supporting educators.

Voting Rights

The GOP is leading voter suppression initiatives in states across the country, but Gov. Lujan Grisham is protecting our voting rights here in New Mexico. She just announced new legislation that will expand online voter registration, provide further protections for Native voters, and make it easier to obtain an absentee ballot.
