“Gun violence is a complex public health crisis. It deserves a comprehensive response. This bill is a smart, evidence-based proposal that will reduce the scope of gun violence in our state and help save lives.”
Dr. Rivara has been studying gun violence for over three decades. He is director of the Firearm Injury and Policy Research Program at Harborview and a professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. As a physician, he has seen the impact of the gun violence epidemic up close. And as a researcher, he has studied how it harms our communities.
That is why he supports prohibiting high-capacity magazines. Last year, testifying in support of legislation to restrict access to high-capacity magazines, he explained that these magazines make gun violence deadlier by causing more severe injuries.
No single law alone will stop every shooting. But restricting access to high-capacity magazines will save lives by reducing gun injuries and deaths. Please, help support our campaign to prohibit high-capacity magazines once and for all.
