Boozman Bulletin

We recently marked one year of the Biden administration. We can take stock of how well President Biden and Democrats in Congress have served the American public through one-party control in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, the results have been disastrous on too many fronts and have had severe consequences impacting us all including:

The president could begin to right the ship by working with Republicans. In doing so, he would live up to his own call for unity.

President Biden’s reckless tax-and-spending policies have resulted in historic inflation rates. His agenda has led to skyrocketing energy costs and major challenges to the supply chain that are negatively impacting Arkansas families and small businesses. I talked with  business leaders in Van Buren, Russellville and Little Rock to hear their concerns and how they are managing these economic hardships.

Remington ammunition factory has been successful in navigating the current economic challenges to grow its Lonoke operations, employ more hardworking Arkansans and produce a great product that allows outdoor sports enthusiasts additional opportunities to do what they enjoy. Our state prides itself on offering world-class recreational shooting opportunities and Remington will play a critical role in ensuring Arkansans have the resources to continue this time-honored tradition.

Veterans in the Fort Smith area will soon have a new health facility to get the health care they need and have earned. I toured the new Department of Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic that will provide enhanced care and services to veterans so they can access medical care and treatment close to where they live. As a senior member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I’m proud to play a role in implementing improvements to policies and facilities to support our former servicemembers. Learn more about the services this facility will offer in this interview with KNWA

I toured the future headquarters of Relyance Bank in White Hall. Businesses like this provide Arkansans good, well-paying jobs and support local communities in countless ways, so it was helpful to get an update and learn about the progress as I continue protecting our state’s pro-growth environment and opportunities. Agriculture is a vital component within our state’s economy. As the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, I'm a voice for the Arkansas ag community and advocate for federal policies that support our producers. At the Catfish Farmers of Arkansas's annual convention in Hot Springs today, I heard how rising input costs are impacting their business.

It's #NationalSchoolChoiceWeek and I'm proud to stand up for parents by empowering them to make decisions about their child's education that best suit their family and needs. Arkansas families can learn more about their educational options and opportunities here.

This week, I've also joined my colleagues to champion parents' rights. Despite recent attacks on their ability to play a part in the education of their children, parents deserve a front-row seat in the discussion about what and how their kids learn. That's why we've introduced a resolution to recognize the necessity of school choice as a tool to empower parents with the freedom to choose the best educational environment for their children, particularly as it relates to COVID-19 and to combat destructive ideologies like critical race theory promoted by many public schools.

Stay up to date with what I’m doing for Arkansans via social media. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If this was forwarded to you sign up for my e-newsletter.
