I love New Jersey.

I’m so lucky to call this great state home, and it is the greatest privilege and honor to serve as New Jersey’s Senator.

When I was finishing law school, I knew I wanted to move back to New Jersey to serve others. I eventually moved to Newark, where I fought for tenant rights, teaming up with my neighbors and community to take on slumlords and win.

That experience inspired me to run for City Council, and, eventually, Mayor of Newark, where I fought to reduce crime, strengthen the economy, and eradicate corruption within City Hall. My time as City Councilman and Mayor were some of the most rewarding experiences of my life and made me realize my passion for public service and serving my community.

Almost nine years have passed since New Jersey first elected me as Senator. I still live in Newark more than twenty years later, and I can confidently say that I’ve only learned to love the Garden State more and more with each year I serve. New Jersey has so much to offer to our great country — beautiful beaches, great food, and wonderful people from every background and walk of life.

I’m incredibly thankful for every New Jerseyan who’s supported me along the way, and the folks around our country who have come together with us to take on the common problems we face. The support of a loving community can overcome even the most insurmountable challenges.

I don’t take donations from Big Pharma executives, fossil fuel executives, or corporate lobbyists because I don’t represent them — I represent the people. It’s such an honor to have you fighting by my side, and with this November’s midterm elections and control of the Senate up for grabs, your involvement has never meant more to me than it does now.
