Clay is a lot of things: a father, an activist, a singer, and a good neighbor. But none of those reasons are why we at Equality PAC chose to endorse Clay Aiken for North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District.
We chose Clay because of his compassion and commitment to service. Can you rush $5 to Clay’s campaign today?
Clay and I both started off as teachers before moving into politics. Having spent more than twenty years in the classroom and as a member of the teachers' union, I know that educators bring a needed perspective and experience to Congress.
It is a perspective driven by a passion for improving the lives and opportunities of all, not by special interests. Clay’s background in special education and disability advocacy makes him uniquely qualified to fight for American families in Congress.
Clay’s historic campaign tells kids across North Carolina that they are welcome and safe, and shows the LGBTQ community in every corner of our country that loud, hateful rhetoric isn’t who we are as Americans.
Clay’s first end-of-month fundraising deadline is on Monday at midnight. I’m personally asking you to support and donate to Clay’s campaign right now. Can I count on you?
In 2012 I made history by becoming the first openly gay person of color elected to the United States Congress. It’s time to make history again by electing Clay as the first openly gay congressmember from the South.
Thank you,
Mark Takano, co-chair of Equality PAC
