Dear NRDC Activist,

23 species were declared extinct last year — the largest group of animals
and plants ever to be reclassified as extinct under the Endangered Species
Act in a single year.

This alarming news from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service comes after
years of Trump administration attacks on the ESA and loss of species
habitat due to pollution, industrialization, agriculture, and runaway
climate change have all exacerbated the biodiversity crisis.

We're fighting right now in court to reverse ALL Trump-era rollbacks of
vital endangered species protections. But, with scientists warning that
one million species face extinction due to humans, many within decades, we
must do more to protect our planet's biodiversity today.

[ [link removed] ]Donate just $5 or more now
to help NRDC restore our country's bedrock wildlife protection law to its
full strength before imperiled species like gray wolves are pushed over
the edge. Every gift will be TRIPLED, but only until January 31.

[ [link removed] ]Protect wildlife. Give today and triple your impact.

Because your support of NRDC's work in 2022 is so crucial, the daughter of
NRDC Founding President John Adams, Kate Adams, her husband Duke Wiser,
and their family will TRIPLE MATCH your donation up to a total of
$330,000!

Saving species at risk — like gray wolves, polar bears, and Florida
panthers — requires restoring the ESA to its full strength. This one law
has prevented the extinction of 99% of the plants and animals under its
care — including the bald eagle, peregrine falcons, and manatees.

The Biden administration has signaled its intent to restore some of the
vital protections Trump stripped away. But as we fight in court and urge
President Biden to fully restore Endangered Species Act protections, we're
also calling on the administration to ban global trade in threatened
wildlife and put a stop to the import and export of species that risk
spreading zoonotic diseases like COVID-19.

Limiting wildlife trade to save species from extinction not only supports
our planet's ecosystem health, but it could also help prevent the next
pandemic.

But as NRDC's team of lawyers, scientists, and policy experts battle
against the double-barreled threats of an extinction crisis and
out-of-control climate change, we need your most generous financial
support right now.

[ [link removed] ]Help save species from going extinct and protect our planet's
biodiversity with a $5
donation to NRDC. Every gift will be
TRIPLED — thanks to a limited match that expires on January 31.

It's a tragedy that we failed to save the 23 species that were declared
extinct last year. They are gone forever. But we can still save the
precious plants and animals that are with us now — if we all care enough
to do our part.

I hope you'll do that today — and [ [link removed] ]respond with your $5
donation to NRDC.

Thank you in advance for your generous support.

Sincerely,

Elly Pepper
Deputy Director, International Wildlife Conservation, Nature Program, NRDC

Donations will be used to save imperiled wildlife from extinction and for
other campaigns that allow NRDC to protect the environment in the most
effective way possible.

The mission of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is to
safeguard the Earth: its people, its plants and animals, and the natural
systems on which all life depends.
