We are less than 12 months from the 2020 general election – just 357 days. Topping the ballot in Texas will be the President of the United States, featuring Donald Trump against a leftist Democrat and a series of third-party candidates.

Straight-ticket voting has been eliminated in Texas; 2020 will be the first year in which Texans will no longer be able to tap a single box and vote “straight party.” Now, every voter will be required to go methodically through the ballot and select each candidate.

On the statewide ballot will be the U.S. Senate seat currently held by John Cornyn, the Railroad Commission seat held by Ryan Sitton, three of nine Texas Supreme Court justices, and three of the nine justices on the Court of Criminal appeals. (All those positions are currently held by Republicans.)

After that, ballots will include all 36 members of the U.S. House, 16 of Texas’ 31 state senators, all 150 state representatives, eight of the 15 State Board of Education seats, and various chief justices and justices on the courts of appeals around the state. You will also find district judges, family court judges, court-at-law judges, county judges, sheriffs, county commissioners, constables, district attorneys, county attorneys, tax assessor-collectors, and justices of the peace.

All those positions will first be on primary election ballots. Texas’ 2020 primary will be held in 112 days, on Tuesday, March 3. ​

​ Texans for Fiscal Responsibility already endorsed Donald Trump for re-election [[link removed]] as President of the United States.

To the horror of the political establishment, there is little difference between what Donald Trump said on the campaign trail and what he has done as president. In that regard, especially, President Trump has become the gold standard for those seeking to retain office.

We need men and women in office who will make good on the promises they made while campaigning, rather than capitulate to the crony establishment or pander to the political elite.

Cary Cheshire reports TFR will soon begin announcing the first round of congressional endorsements. These will be members of the U.S. House whose congressional records have qualified them for automatic endorsement.

Regardless of record, incumbents and candidates for the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Texas Senate, and Texas House are welcome to apply for the Texans for Fiscal Responsibility endorsement [[link removed]]. Endorsements are made on the strength of the candidate’s philosophical and ideological grounding, policy views, and their campaign’s organizational structure.

Applications [[link removed]] for judicial endorsements will be considered by Texans for Courageous Courts. Judges should be courageous, willing to pursue and provide justice even in the face of political and social pressure, while embracing accountability from the voting public. Number of the Day
