Today, it was officially announced that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring from the Court, creating a vacancy on the 6-3 conservative majority bench.

It’s often hard to recognize when you are in the middle of a transformational moment, but there is no clearer sign this is one.

The next Supreme Court justice will make decisions that will impact this country for decades to come. That is why we MUST ensure they are a champion for voting rights, reproductive rights, health care access, and so much more.

But for the moment, we must turn our focus to the Senate. We know Mitch McConnell has no issue with blocking our nominees or ramming his through the Senate. So we have to act, act now, and act quickly before the imbalance on the Supreme Court is cemented for generations.
