John, I’m Martin Sheen -- I played the president on TV. Plot lines got heated and dramatic, but they typically came to tidy and easy resolutions at the end of an episode or season.

In real life, it’s much more complicated.

Effective leaders in our country have to inject themselves into tough, complicated battles every day. The path to solutions can be winding and certainly takes longer than the arc of a 45-minute TV episode.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is one of those leaders.

She is the most powerful elected woman politician in American history. Period. She’s a progressive champion and master legislator who has spent her career identifying and fighting for long-term solutions.

We need to team up to support Nancy and the Democratic House Majority, so they can continue to drive us toward those solutions. So John: Can you contribute a few dollars to help protect the House Majority?

There’s no way Nancy will let Republicans set our agenda in Washington.

Since winning back the House Majority, Nancy and Democrats have worked to defend millions of Americans’ health care, bring down the prices of prescription drugs, strengthen protections for pre-existing conditions, expand voting rights, address gun violence, ensure equal rights and anti-discrimination protections for the LGBTQ community, and combat climate change.

That’s in stark contrast to President Trump and Republicans. They’ve done more to sow divisions and introduce ugly rhetoric into our discourse than to address the critical issues facing our country.

Unity is our greatest strength, and Trump and Republicans know that. There’s nothing they want more than to divide us and throw us off an agenda toward progress.

Because when we come together, we can accomplish great things.
