Ship backlog increases while imports fall at Calif. ports

Combined imports at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach dropped by 14% year-over-year in December, the fourth consecutive month with a decline. Full terminals meant that over 100 ships had to wait to dock last month, while a shortage of truck drivers and dockworkers worsened the bottlenecks.

Ocado is working to speed up online grocery delivery with new technology that includes lighter grids, as well as more efficient robotic arms and bots. "Over time this is going to change the under-one-hour grocery delivery industry," CEO Tim Steiner said.
