Tonight on MSNBC, I was asked about the order of our primaries. I told them that I appreciate how seriously Iowa and New Hampshire take their role as first-in-the-nation.

Throughout my travels in both states, I have met many wonderful people who take this process very seriously. They vet the candidates, they show up at town halls, and do their due diligence.

However, our primary process should reflect our country and the voters in it. What made sense 50 years ago when this order was established no longer works today. We are not the same country that we were in 1972 and I believe it's time our primaries reflect our nation's diversity.

Other states should have their chance in helping to determine who the nominee of our party - and who the leader of our country should be.

I've made a point on this campaign of speaking my mind and giving a voice to the voiceless, even when it makes powerful interests uncomfortable. I know there are some who may disagree, but I think it's time we have an honest conversation about our primaries.
