Have you been following WLT Patron Sir David Attenborough’s The Green Planet on BBC?
Watching the breathtaking first episode ‘Tropical Worlds’, all of us at WLT were instantly reminded of how far we’ve come safeguarding natural treasures like these with our supporters – the 2,409,420 acres directly protected by WLT partners since 1989 – and how far we must yet go.
As you can read in our new Strategic Plan (introduced by our Patron Steve Backshall) we’ve now set a target to deliver more than £12 million to our partners per year by 2025, double what we managed in 2021. With this funding, our partners will be able to bring at least 2,500,000 acres into conservation between 2021 and 2025 – protecting as much in these five years as had been protected during WLT’s 30+ previous years of operation.
Are we being ambitious? No doubt. But these new goals are not only imperative for the planet but also achievable, if you join us.
By committing to regular giving as a WLT Friend today, or helping a friend or a family member of yours become a WLT Friend, you’ll be fighting global warming and mass extinctions always wherever and whenever it is most needed, funding urgent reserve expansions, species conservation programmes, anti-fire kit and others.
WLT Patrons like Sir David and Steve Backshall, our conservation partners, our supporters – we’re all ready to save land to save species in this critical decade for the planet. Will you join us?
