The Downsize DC approach can be summed up in one word...

We want to be so large Congress cannot afford to ignore us -- so big that we can get our message out to everyone, everywhere, every day.
It's been said that politics is war by other means.
We call ourselves the Downsize DC Army because any policy debate is a lot like a battle. If you're "in the trenches" with us, you're a DC Downsizer.
We have a strong, strategic sense of how big our army needs to be. Our goal is 10-million DC Downsizers. Why? Long before there were that many of us, Congress would find it impossible to ignore us. And by the time we were that large, we'd be heard and seen everywhere, not just in their ears. Most incumbents would want to at least deal with us. Some would even become eager to represent us because...
Nearly all politicians are opportunists, looking for a parade that's marching somewhere. And they want to get in front, as if they're leading it.
With the "parade" we're looking to build, we would definitely find political "leaders" long before we got to our goal of passage. But some incumbents would still resist. Perhaps there'd be just barely enough resistance to block the Downsize DC Agenda, which starts by regulating Congress with the One Subject at a Time Act and the Read the Bills Act. But...
LONG before we had 10-million DC Downsizers, we DC Downsizers could organize to unseat our opponents and find politicians more to our liking. To be clear...
Downsize DC is non-partisan and cannot, legally, participate in elections. But DC Downsizers can still find each other and coalesce together. Indeed, the legal possibilities for organizing and the political environment are the best they've been in 45 years. We, the leaders of Downsize DC, can see clearly how such a movement could and should be launched.
But first, we have to exercise and grow our muscles on the legislative front. Indeed, legislative action is the place to start in building our Downsize DC Army...
