Dear John,
I'd like to share some important information with you today about Alzheimer's and the impact it has on so many people, not only on those living with this devastating disease, but also on their caregivers and families.
This is information everyone should know — and the facts become more and more important to us each year because the older we are, the greater our risk of Alzheimer's becomes.
But before I get to those numbers, I have one fact to share with you first: You're the reason progress is possible. It's your support of our Annual Fund Drive that will help provide care and support and accelerate the research that may one day end Alzheimer's disease.
I'm counting on community members, like you, to recognize the urgent need for financial support this year. Please give to our 2022 Annual Fund Drive now to advance critical research and help provide vital care and support to families affected by Alzheimer's.
Here's some important information you should know about Alzheimer's disease:
- By 2050, the number of people in the United States age 65 and older living with Alzheimer's dementia is projected to reach nearly 13 million.
- 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia.
- Family members and friends provided nearly $257 billion in unpaid care to people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias in 2020.
- Last year, the total national cost of caring for people living with Alzheimer's or another dementia was expected to reach $355 billion — with immeasurable emotional costs experienced by families across this country.
- Older Black Americans are about twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's or another dementia as older White Americans, and older Hispanic Americans are about one-and one-half times as likely to live with Alzheimer's or another dementia as older White Americans.
The fact is, we're all at risk. And the more you know about the emotional, physical and financial toll this takes on so many, the more you understand how extremely urgent it is to do all we can THIS YEAR — to advance the fight against Alzheimer's and achieve our vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia.
Your Annual Fund Drive contribution today will go right to work, advancing our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
Our Annual Fund Drive is one of the most important times to show your commitment to this fight. Please make your Annual Fund Drive gift now. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Donna McCullough
Chief Mission and Field Operations Officer
P.S. The new year brings new challenges and opportunities in our fight, and we need you in our corner. We're counting on people like you to contribute to our work. Please make your Annual Fund Drive gift now.
