Team,

It’s been a while since I mentioned our old pal Mitch McConnell.

As I write this, D.C. is showing us how broken it is, as pundits openly talk about how Mitch will find a way to block President Biden’s Supreme Court pick. No one wonders whether Mitch will do his constitutional duty — they skip over that entirely and just daydream about what new “rule” he’ll invent to get his way.

The good news is Mitch doesn’t have the Senate majority right now. (Voters in Georgia made sure of that.) But what this dialogue tells us is that, if Mitch ever retakes control, he will certainly abuse his power. And people will let him do it.

That makes our mission clear: Hold on to the Senate with everything we’ve got. The majority this year hinges on Wisconsin, where we’re taking on Ron Johnson.

Make a donation right now to fund our grassroots efforts in Wisconsin, and let’s do everything we can to make sure Mitch McConnell never gets his hands on the Senate majority again. [[link removed]]

As someone who’s spent a lot of time thinking about how Mitch McConnell has broken our democracy, I know how we got here. And frankly I’m disgusted that people in positions of power, and especially the media, let him get away with it.

When he brazenly made things up to block President Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland, the talking heads in D.C. might as well have given him a merit badge for being creatively power hungry. When he reversed course to ram through Amy Comey Barrett’s nomination eight days before a presidential election, some openly admired his shamelessness.

They treat him like he’s a genius, but Mitch McConnell doesn’t win by outsmarting his opponents. He wins by doing whatever he wants whenever he wants, as long as he has the Senate majority.

I’m proud of the role we played in helping relegate Mitch to the minority last year — now we need to keep him there. Chip in whatever you can to help fund our efforts to make sure Mitch never gets back the keys to the Senate. [[link removed]]

Thank you,
Amy
