The constitution clearly states that no member of Congress may serve if they have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the U.S. government.

On January 6th, several GOP members of Congress aided in inciting the insurrection on the U.S. Capitol after spewing conspiracy theories and spreading lies about President Biden’s victory.

Not only did GOP members like Madison Cawthorn and Paul Gosar help organize and plan with the insurrectionists, but they also continued to minimize the violent events of that day.
