This country is polarized, no doubt about it. But the former Republican Speaker of the House and presidential candidate has taken it to a new low. Newt Gingrich was on Fox News when he started attacking members of Congress for joining the January 6 committee, including fellow Republicans.
He called them “wolves” and said that if Republicans take Congress in November “this is all going to come crashing down…they’re the ones who in fact, I think, face a real risk of jail for the kinds of laws they’re breaking”.

This is what the Republican party is coming to. Donald Trump’s favorite chant was “lock her up,” Rep. Lauren Boebert has called Rep. Ilhan Omar a “terrorist,” and now Newt Gingrich is advocating for the jailing of members of Congress who are working hard to strengthen our laws.
Our democracy is unraveling because an entire party is more and more willing to stop at nothing in order to gain power. It won’t be easy, but we have to fight with everything we’ve got to keep control of Congress and pass democracy protection laws.
