![]() Team, Last week, a federal appeals court left the country’s most restrictive abortion law in place after it rejected a request from abortion providers to return their legal challenge to a trial court judge who had previously blocked the law. The ruling temporarily transfers the case to the Texas Supreme Court, honoring a request by state officials that could leave the dispute in limbo for months. While Texas led the way in ending abortion rights across the country, Future Forum Dems led the way in protecting reproductive freedom. Back in September, Future Forum was instrumental in passing the Women’s Health Protection Act, a critical step toward protecting Roe v. Wade.
Here’s the deal, team: Not a single Republican member of the House voted to advance this bill. Instead, the GOP has made it clear that their intent is to strip reproductive rights across the nation. Justice Sonia Sotomayor got it right: this case is a disaster for the rule of law and a grave disservice to women in Texas, who have a right to control their own bodies.
