This past weekend marked 49 years since the Supreme Court ruled in Roe V. Wade that the United States Constitution protects a person’s right to make their own medical decisions about their body.

The anniversary comes at a time when abortion rights are facing the biggest threat from Republican-led states since the landmark ruling.

Laws in MIssissippi started and now Texas has effectively banned abortion after 6 weeks of pregnancy, and giving people the ability to sue anyone who is aiding someone seeking an abortion.

Let’s be clear: When abortion is banned in any state, it primarily affects people of color and low-income folks who cannot afford to travel to another state to get the treatment they need.

People with financial means will always have the resources to go wherever they choose to get the medical treatment they need to not carry a pregnancy to term.

Now more than ever it is critical we continue to fight back against anti-abortion ideologies that pray on those who are most vulnerable. And so, on this 49th anniversary, I ask you to make your voice heard by signing our petition and telling the GOP you will not tolerate their continued attacks on constitutional rights.
