is a tireless champion for justice and equality

John — it’s Congressman Jim Clyburn. I’m reaching out because I want to ask you to support Barbara’s campaign and mine.

But first, I want to tell you a little bit about where Barbrara and I come from.

I grew up in the Jim Crow South and started working in the Civil Rights Movement before I was even old enough to drive, serving as the president of the youth chapter of my local NAACP before going on to organize demonstrations at segregated drugstores. Like me, Barbara was also a member of her local NAACP, and in that role, she helped integrate her school’s cheerleading squad.

Today, I serve as the highest-ranking Black Democrat in the House and I work closely with Barbara, the highest-ranking Black woman and woman of color in Democratic Congressional leadership. All these years later, we’re still fighting for justice and equality. If you can, please split a donation between our campaigns to support our work:

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation split between Barbara Lee and Jim Clyburn will go through immediately:

In Congress, Barbara and I are fighting to defend reproductive rights, to put an end to gun violence in our communities, and to lift up Americans out of poverty.

It’s because of principled and unwavering leaders like Barbara that our Democratic House Majority can fight for our values like affordable health care and voting rights.

But we need your support. Please consider splitting a contribution between Barbara’s campaign and mine today.

Thank you,

Jim
