Yesterday, I announced my candidacy for Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional district.

Congressman Jim Langevin has served our state with courage, determination, and expertise. When he announced his retirement, I knew we needed a new member of Congress who will continue to fight for the middle class and those struggling to join it. I'm ready to carry on this fight and cannot stand by and allow the possibility that Rhode Island might elect a Republican to Congress this year.

The fight to preserve democracy is the most sacred obligation of our generation. National Republicans like Donald Trump and Kevin McCarthy seek to divide America, undermine democracy, and appeal to the most chaotic, hateful and dangerous elements of their party. With our House majority on the line, it's so critical RI-02 stays blue.

I’m running for Congress because Democrats must keep the majority to maintain our democratic system of government, expand economic opportunity by making college and workforce training more affordable, ensure every child access to universal pre-K, and lower the cost of prescription drugs.
