Chairman's
Message
Governor DeSantis
condemns Biden recklessly blocking monoclonals
Governor DeSantis is demanding the Biden Administration
reverse its sudden and reckless decision to revoke emergency use
authorization for Regeneron and Eli Lilly monoclonal antibody
treatments. This abrupt and unilateral action by the Biden
Administration will prevent access to treatments for Floridians and
Americans — treatments that have already saved thousands of
lives.
“Without a shred of clinical data to support this action,
Biden has forced trained medical professionals to choose between
treating their patients or breaking the law,” Governor DeSantis. “This
indefensible edict takes treatment out of the hands of medical
professionals and will cost some Americans their lives. There are
real-world implications to Biden’s medical authoritarianism —
Americans’ access to treatments is now subject to the whims of a
failing president.”
Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo added: “In our field of
medicine, when someone comes to you seeking a treatment that could
save their life, it is essential to have treatment options to ensure
health care providers can make the best decisions for their
patients.”
As a result of this abrupt and clinically unsupported
action, the appointments for more than 2,000 Floridians to receive
this treatment were canceled on January 25 alone. This decision was
made solely by Biden’s Food and Drug Administration without advance
warning to states or health providers and without clinical data to
support the decision. The deliberate decision by the Biden
Administration to make this announcement effective immediately,
through a press release no less, actively prevents states and health
care providers from making real-time operational decisions that save
lives.
During the pandemic, scientists and researchers across the
nation have worked hard to bring Americans treatments that are both
safe and effective. One of these proven treatments has been monoclonal
antibodies, which have saved thousands of lives in Florida and across
our nation. The Biden Administration’s foolhardy decision is
shameful.

Law enforcement around
the state overwhelmingly endorses Governor
DeSantis
Almost every Florida Sheriff — 59 out of 67 — endorsed
Governor DeSantis this week.
“As Governor, I will ALWAYS have the backs of law
enforcement and will never allow our law enforcement agencies to be
defunded!” the Governor said.
And the Florida Police Chiefs Association also endorsed
Governor DeSantis.
“Florida's police chiefs consistently answer the call of
upholding law and order in our state,” the Governor said. “Thank you
for your service to the people of Florida and for your
support.”
Florida
Florida labor force grows
six times faster than the nation
Now larger than before
the pandemic started
Governor DeSantis announced that Florida’s December 2021
economic data substantially outperformed the nation with 20
consecutive months of job growth and 14 consecutive months of labor
force increases.
Further, Florida businesses created 479,300 total jobs, an
increase of 5.6% over the year, well ahead of the national job growth
rate of 4.5%. And all of this has driven more jobseekers into the
market as Florida’s labor force is larger than it was than February
2020, before the pandemic. Florida’s labor force grew by 6.1%, an
astonishing six times faster than the nation.
This strong growth is a compelling indicator of consumer
confidence in Florida’s job market and vindication of the state’s
economic policies of freedom for businesses and workers.
“Month after month, the data continues to show that freedom
first economic policies create jobs and keep our economy moving,”
Governor DeSantis said. “Our new businesses and workforce growth show
that Floridians have the opportunities they need to thrive. We will
continue to lead the nation in economic growth because we value the
individual freedoms of Floridians and protect the ability for our
citizens to succeed.”
All of Florida’s major sectors continued to gain jobs over
the year, gaining back all the jobs lost during the pandemic, which is
critical in continuing to diversify the state’s economy. These
industries include construction; trade, transportation and utilities;
financial activities; and professional and business services.
Additionally, Florida’s unemployment rate remained low, decreasing by
0.1 percentage point to 4.4% over the month — even with the huge labor
force growth.

Florida’s innovative
literacy program delivering free books monthly
Governor DeSantis visited Riversink Elementary School in
Wakulla County to highlight the New Worlds Reading Initiative — an
innovative book-delivery program created through House Bill 3 during
the 2021 Legislative Session and signed into law by Governor DeSantis.
At the event, in which he was joined by Education
Commissioner Richard Corcoran and Speaker Chris Sprowls, Governor
DeSantis announced that more than 81,000 students are already enrolled
in the program and are receiving one free, hard-copy book per month to
help improve their reading skills.
Throughout the week, the Florida Department of Education, in
partnership with school districts, state agencies and organizations,
recognized the 14th Annual Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!
Events were scheduled throughout the week to inspire Florida’s
students and families to make reading part of their daily routine and
promote excellent reading habits in Florida students.
“One of the most important things we can do to put students
on the path toward success is making sure they develop literacy skills
early in life,” Governor DeSantis said. “Our goal is to make Florida
the number one state in the nation for literacy because the benefits
of reading stay with our children for the rest of their
lives.

$10 million to Sarasota
to mitigate stormwater runoff damage
Governor DeSantis awarded over $10 million to the City of
Sarasota to enhance water quality and protect from erosion, storms and
flooding in Bay Park and surrounding communities.
“Utilizing funding to make meaningful impacts on Florida
communities is an important step we can take towards mitigating storm
damage,” Governor DeSantis said. “The Sarasota community is better
protected because of these projects at Bay Park.”
The City of Sarasota will use the state funds to make
improvements to Hog’s Creek to restore the natural stream, elevation
of Van Wezel Way to protect against flooding and major shoreline
improvements to create a natural shoreline. These projects will
enhance resiliency of the park and surrounding areas against storm
damage and mitigate damage that could be caused by a major storm
impacting the Sarasota coast.

Senator Marco
Rubio
The Upcoming Midterms
Will Be A Choice Between Crazy And Normal
Senator Marco Rubio recently penned a column for the Daily
Caller on the importance of the midterms for the direction of the
nation. The title says it all. Here is an excerpt:
We’ve barely entered 2022, and already we’re seeing just
how stark the choice between crazy and normal will be in the November
elections.
The CDC has become a laughing stock that huge portions
of the country no longer trust. The Chicago Teachers Union is more
interested in taking time off than educating children. And Joe Biden
and Senate Democrats are more concerned with appeasing their radical
woke base than addressing the host of problems facing American
families.
My opponent, Val Demings, is proudly running to be the
51st vote in support of the Crazy Agenda. She supports Biden’s Build
Back Socialist plan, which gives tax cuts to millionaires in blue
states like California and New York while increasing taxes on Florida
families. She approved amnesty for 6.5 million illegal immigrants and
a pathway to citizenship for convicted gang members, but she opposed
the border wall. And she wants to empower the IRS to spy on
Floridians’ personal bank accounts.
Of course, none of this should come as a surprise. From
the moment she arrived in Washington, Demings has been a rubber stamp
for Nancy Pelosi’s radical agenda, voting with her 100% of the time.
In fact, it seems like palling around with Pelosi is about the only
thing Demings does well in Washington. She has yet to pass a single
meaningful piece of legislation, and her two bills that have actually
become law were to rename post offices. The last thing Florida needs
is a do-nothing Pelosi puppet representing us in the
Senate.
While Demings’ campaign is all about appeasing
Washington Democrats and the woke left, I am running for reelection to
continue delivering results for Florida families and restore the
American Dream.

CFO Jimmy Patronis
CFO Patronis on FOX
demanding answers on Biden blocking monoclonals
Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis was on Fox
& Friends First with Carley Shimkus to discuss the Biden
Administration’s FDA decision to heartlessly block the use of
monoclonal antibody treatments to save lives from Covid.
Patronis said Americans deserve answers as to why the FDA
took this action beyond one, conflicted study that was neither a
clinical study nor was peer-reviewed. Floridians need access to these
life-saving options.
