Hi John — it’s Kate, I’m the Organizing Director for Women’s March.
I want to share with you a special initiative I’ve been working on to help train current and future feminist leaders!
In less than a week, Women’s March will kickoff our Feminist Fundamentals Short Course — a three-part online training to help Women’s Marchers take their activism to the next level — and we can’t wait to get started!
I’m going to tell you more about this innovative program and its impact in just a moment. I’m also going to explain why we’re setting a $10,000 goal to cover the costs, but if you’re short on time: will you chip in $3 or anything you can to help fund our Feminist Fundamentals Short Course?
As we continue to face challenges to our reproductive freedom and tackle white supremacy and misinformation, it’s important we grow and fortify our movement by training new activists, growing the skills of volunteers we already have, and bringing in a new generation of leaders for the fights ahead.
Here’s what you need to know about our Feminist Fundamentals Short Course:
For this training program, we’ve recruited some of our most active Women’s Marchers who are ready to take their activism to the next level. In these small-group sessions, participants will develop their skills and leadership to organize within their communities, grow our movement, and build our feminist future.
Here’s one of the exercises we use to facilitate meaningful conversations
These training sessions are also a valuable opportunity for our attendees to connect and develop the life-long kinship that is so integral to building power in our movement. As we enter the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, we know that interdependence and connection are what will save us from isolation and give us the resilience to challenge failed structures.
Our participants have gone on to organize local Women2Women circles, mobilize voters in their communities, plan marches and actions on key issues, and much more. It’s actions like these that have fueled our movement’s successes – from defeating Trump, to flipping the Senate! Here are just some of the personal stories our former attendees have shared:
"I don't know where to stop applying the things I've learned from the Women's March! Kindness - recognizing that people are human - and using kindness and personal stories to fight the fights we must fight." |
"I took away that I needed to hold on to feminist values as personal values and speak for justice and equality as often as needed!" |
And the best part? This training is FREE! At Women’s March, we want to see women of every race, gender expression, lived experience, sexual orientation, ability, ethnic background, class origin, country of birth, region, immigration status or religion thrive. That starts with bringing more women and feminists into our movement – which is why making this program accessible is so important to us.
To keep this critical training free, we’re relying on grassroots donations from Women’s Marchers like you, John.
Thanks for your support,
Kate Shapiro
