We want to keep you up-to-date on Jared’s work advocating for Mainers and breaking through partisan gridlock in Congress, so here is just some of what Rep. Golden has been working on since our last newsletter.

PROTECTING HEALTH CARE COVERAGE FOR RETIREES:
This month, Jared reintroduced the bipartisan Health Coverage Tax Credit Reauthorization Act, which would extend key provisions that help Maine retirees, including dozens of retired millworkers from Twin Rivers Paper in Madawaska, afford health insurance.

PUSHING TO BAN STOCK TRADING BY MEMBERS OF CONGRESS:
Earlier this week, Jared led a bipartisan group of 27 members pushing House leadership for a vote on legislation that would ban Members of Congress from owning or trading stock while holding office. Jared believes that serving in Congress should be about representing your constituents, not lining your own pocketbook.

INCREASING TRAINING & RECRUITING GRANTS FOR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT:
In Maine, many of our rural communities are experiencing a serious and sustained shortage of officers, which affects public safety, emergency response, and peace of mind in towns across the state. That’s why Jared helped introduce the COPS on the Beat Grant Program Reauthorization and Parity Act of 2021 – a bipartisan bill that would nearly triple available funding for the COPS grant program, reauthorize the program for ten years, and specifically expand access to the grants for rural communities.
