Today, Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement from the Supreme Court.

For nearly three decades, Justice Breyer served the American people -- not special interests or corporations. He’s been an intelligent, trusted, and thoughtful voice on the court who stood up for civil rights, workers, and access to health care.

Americans will feel the impact of Justice Breyer’s decisions and his influence on the Supreme Court for years to come.

With the Supreme Court set to decide important cases on the future of Roe v. Wade and access to reproductive health care, gun safety, voting rights, and workers' rights, it’s critical that Justice Breyer is replaced by someone who will uphold our values. I’m confident that President Biden will nominate a justice who understands that upholding our Constitution requires standing up to corporations, and protecting the rights of ALL Americans -- not just the powerful and the privileged.
